Attraction In Cayman Islands

Cayman Islands, an island country situated in the west of Caribbean Sea. It is a British overseas territory comprising of three major islands - Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac, and Little Cayman. The total land area of the island is 100 square miles with an estimated population of 55000. Among the Caribbean nations, Cayman Islands remain as the major center of the financial activities 

The fine tropical climate with white sandy beaches and crystal clear turquoise sea filled with the beautiful coral reefs and marine creatures make the tourists repeatedly visit this island again and again. Once being a popular hide out for pirates and buccaneers, this island is now a paradise for the tourists.

The Grand Cayman beach which stretches to 7 mile long is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Cayman Islands. However Cayman Islands have much more to offer you such as an adventurous hike through the dense rainforest, diving into the shipwrecks, scuba diving, snorkeling, body surfing etc

Until 1962, the governor of Jamaica held the administrative responsibility of these islands. However after the independence of Jamaica, the British Crown itself appointed the governor for the island.

Cayman Islands have lots of attractions to see and enjoy. The natural beauty of the islands persuades the tourists to repeatedly visit the island again and again. Some of the mostly visited places by the tourists are as follows.

Seven Mile Beach

Situated in the Grand Cayman Island, this appealing white sandy beach that stretches to a 7 mile length is one of the major attractions of the Cayman Islands. The crystal clear sea filled with coral reefs and beautiful marine creatures remain as a paradise for the surfers and snorkelers.

Turtle Farm

Columbus originally named this island as 'Las Tortugas,' meaning the Turtles. When Columbus discovered the island in 1503, the land was fully covered with turtles seeming to be the land was fully covered with rocks.

These turtles are now considered as the protected species and the turtle farm situated in the West Bay protects over 16,000 turtles ranging from smaller to bigger ones

Stingray City and Sandbar

Stingray City and Sandbar, situated in the north of the island is a perfect spot for those who seek adventure. The crystal clear water filled with the lovely stingrays makes it an ideal place for the snorkelers.

Pedro St James Castle

Being one of the famous land marks of the Cayman Islands, this castle was originally built by the English people in the year 1765. It is one of the oldest buildings of the island. This castle has a lot of historical significance and is also referred as the 'birthplace of democracy'.  It was in this castle, the decision to vote for the elected representatives was taken.
